This Privacy Policy explains what information the Tradie app (“Tradie”, “we”, “us”) uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. Tradie is built so that your business records stay on your phone. We don’t upload your jobs, customers, quotes, invoices or expenses to our servers.
Tradie is run by Paul Vosloo, who is responsible for your information (the “data controller”). You can contact him at the address in section 14.
| When you… | What is used | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Add jobs, customers, quotes, invoices, expenses or photos | Everything you enter | Stays on your phone |
| Sign in with Apple (optional) | Account identifier; name and email you choose to share | Apple, our server, RevenueCat |
| Subscribe to Pro | Purchase history, app user ID | Apple, RevenueCat |
| Add a job by voice | Your recording and its text | Our server, Groq |
| Use Suggest times | Postcodes or ZIP codes only | Our server, Apple Maps, postcodes.io |
| Turn on calendar sync | Your calendar’s busy times | Stays on your phone |
Tradie has no adverts, doesn’t track you across other apps or websites, and never sells your information.
Everything you enter to run your business is saved on your iPhone only:
We can’t see this information. It is included in your iPhone backups if you back up your phone, under Apple’s terms. Deleting the app deletes it from your phone.
When you send a quote, invoice or text message, it goes from your phone through the app you choose, such as Messages or Mail. We don’t receive a copy. You are responsible for the information you hold about your own customers.
Signing in is optional. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an account identifier and, the first time only, the name and email address you choose to share (this can be a private relay address). We use it to keep your Pro subscription on a new phone and to turn on voice jobs and drive times. Our server doesn’t keep a database of accounts: it gives your phone a sign-in token, and your name and email are kept with your subscription record at RevenueCat (section 5).
When you add a job by voice, your recording is sent through our server to Groq, which turns it into text. The text is then sent to Groq again to pick out the job details, such as the customer, address, job type and timing. Our server doesn’t keep the recording or the text after it has replied. Groq does not keep voice recordings by default. Voice jobs need you to be signed in.
Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment and we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have Pro. RevenueCat receives an app user identifier, your purchase history from Apple and, if you sign in, your name and email. It also records how many free voice jobs you have used.
When Tradie suggests appointment times, our server sends postcodes or ZIP codes only (your base and the jobs being compared) to Apple Maps to estimate driving time. For UK postcodes it may also use postcodes.io to find a location. No names, addresses or job details are sent.
Every permission is optional. You can change them at any time in the iPhone Settings app.
Our small server is hosted by Vercel. It passes requests to the services above and has no database. Like most web services it keeps short-lived technical records, such as IP address and time of request, to keep the service secure and fix faults.

Where information is processed outside the UK, we rely on our providers’ data protection agreements, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent safeguards.
We use your information to provide the features you choose to use, such as signing in, Pro, voice jobs and drive times. This is necessary to provide the service you have asked for. We use technical information because we have a legitimate interest in keeping Tradie secure and preventing abuse. Phone permissions are based on your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings.
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, and you can object to how we use it.
